The Local Food Report: listen up

I'm going to keep things short today, because I think that instead of doing too much reading, you really should head on over here and listen to today's radio show. (It sometimes takes a little while to go up, so if it isn't there yet the first time you click on it, give it a few hours. It will be.) It's an interview with Doug and Dianne Langeland, the owners of Edible Cape Cod, and it's about a very important issue pertaining to local food on the Cape: supply and demand. So put on your headphones, or turn up your speakers, and listen up.

When you come back, as promised, this list will still be here: the latest dates, times, and locations for 2010 farmers' markets across the Cape. Click on the heading links to find out more about who's selling at each spot.

It's wonderful to hear how the demand for farmers' markets is growing on the Cape. I live in Midcoast Maine, and it's been amazing to see how the movement has grown here over the past 10 years or so. My town has a farmers' market year-round: 3 (yes 3!) times a week from May 1 until Thanksgiving and then weekly the rest of the year. I hope that Cape farmers will be inspired to meet the demand down your way! ~A Maine Reader

Where can I obtain raw milk on Cape Cod?

Hi Dimitri,

There isn't a farm on Cape Cod, but there are several family coops that drive off Cape to bring it back. We are part of one in Wellfleet that gets milk from a farm in Dartmouth—Pasamansett Farms. If you let me know where you are I may be able to get you in touch with another coop.

All the best,
Elspeth
