FEED US WITH TREES // Coming July 2025!

Friends! It's been way, way too long. I never meant to abandon anyone here, but life intervened. I started a book proposal, sold it in the midst of a global pandemic, and then got swept up in the tide of daily life: parenting, writing, radio work, a new restaurant.

Writing a book has been like no other project I've ever embarked on before; it required my full attention. (Even more than the restaurant! Which is really Alex's baby, though I am frequently there.) There was so much I wanted to share with you along the way—so many research trips and thought-provoking conversations and life changing new ways of seeing the world—and I can't wait to do that, soon. But I couldn't do both at once. So, finally, I'm popping back here to announce that the book is finished! And soon you'll be able to read it! 

I am so, so proud of this book, the one you see up there. It's coming out this July, 2025, from New Society Publishers, and you can pre-order it now on their website, here. As of this writing, the digital galley exists; I just spent two weeks proofing, and in a few short months I'll be holding the first printed copy. Eeee!  

In the meantime, I wanted to share some updates about where you can find my writing. I'm not going to return to posting regularly here, but I am going to return to regularly sharing stories, photographs, and recipes. I'm migrating all my work onto my new website, elspethhay.com, and beginning this spring, I'll be reviving the ol' blog over there. I hope you'll join me.
